So, so thrilled to be able to share images from the wedding of Jennifer + Jason. This is the beautiful couple who’s engagement I photographed in the Distillery District of downtown Toronto last summer. In fact, there engagement session appeared on
Tutu + Fru. The day was jam packed with events (and rain)! This post has a lot of images! Check it out.
The day started out with door games before Jason could enter the room of the first tea ceremony to see his bride. The boys were blindfolded as their palettes were tested with baby food, chased by their choice of a fine beverage. Jason and his groomsmen manned up to the tasks and took it all in stride. Meanwhile, Jason’s bride was able to witness the events live through the magic of technology (aka Iphone/Facetime).
Jennifer glowed in a flattering pink silk dress as she and Jason served her family members with tea. You could feel the emotion in the room as the symbolic ceremony took place. The respected elder family members are served tea by the bride/groom.
Following the tea ceremony with Jennifer’s family, the couple walked through a beautiful courtyard (which we will later come back to) to the location of the tea ceremony for Jason’s family.
Jennifer was taken care of by her bridesmaids during her wardrobe change. She slipped into a beautiful lace dress which she helped design and had locally made.
Jennifer showed her appreciation to her bridesmaids and friends Arianne and Alana with a very special gift. An iPad mini, engraved no doubt! I love the shot of Alana, who is pregnant, holding her mini (with a mini growing inside) ; )
In addition to the door games, tea ceremony and the actual exchanging of vows (still to come), the day was full of emotional events, including the exciting First Look. Jason waited patiently, likely wondering how his bride could look anymore beautiful than she did in her pink dress. The rain started coming down a little as Jennifer walked to the courtyard with her umbrella to see Jason. This First Look is such a special moment for Jennifer and Jason.
Fortunately, with the rain, we were lucky to be be protected by a trestle covered with beautiful greenery.
How stunning is this bride! She wore gold jewellery, some of which she was adorned by during the tea ceremony, and just looked like a classic beauty.
Funny man Jason striking his poses.
The rain was off and on all day. After the First Look, we headed towards the Brock House, and stopped by under the Burrard Street Bridge for more portraits. The grey cement was of the bridge provided an industrial backdrop for these portraits, a contrast to the greenery in the courtyard.
A few suspender pulls later, we arrived at the Brock House for the exchanging of vows.
Gotta love that fist pump. Classic Jason!
What’s so special about Jennifer and Jason? Well, after the ceremony, the two insisted on outdoor photos with their family members. This meant standing in the rain. They stood for about an hour in the rain being photographed with 25 groups of people. Throughout it all, they remained pleasant and easygoing. It was of no matter that Jennifer’s dress was getting wet and her beautifully styled hair was getting damp. They took the rainy portraits along with everything else that day with a relaxed and happy attitude. That’s why I love these two! Jennifer and Jason, you were a dream to work with!
A special thanks to Marlis Funk for being my second shooter and third hand while we photographed in the
rain ; )

Stunning shots by Sarb Glaze Photography of our wedding. I like how there’s some “classic” Jason moments with Jen getting slightly annoyed, but there was none of her snapping my suspenders. Those hurt! 🙁
