While I certainly love a lengthy family session, I love when families get to utilize my mini sessions as well. These shorter sessions are perfect for small families who have little ones always on the move! Small children love exploring and running around, and these allow for that. Parents don’t have to worry if the child runs away or gets distracted, because my job is to capture them in their element, even if that means running a few laps around a park to get the shots! As a result, we get more relaxed parents, and more genuine expressions from the little ones. This sweet mom wasn’t sure if her littlest love would handle a longer session, so we decided a mini session would work perfectly.
I often hear parents hoping (and maybe praying!) that their children will “behave” and allow me to photography them. Of course those perfect smiles are beautiful, but you’d be surprised at how many true, raw, and meaningful moments can be captured when they may not be smiling or looking at the camera. I try to get a good mix of both posed and unposed portraits that truly show your lifestyle and the season your family is in. Mom and dad were both pleasantly surprised with these photos and the moments that I was able to capture, even though the youngest wasn’t thrilled to be in the spotlight. All of these portraits were shot at a local park here in Vancouver, and the greenery/trees were just the backdrop to show off the pretty blues and whites the family wore.
